xlb`iYoung Men's Christian Associationjwas
first established in London in 1844. Since
then YMCA has grown into a worldwide network
providing life long education to people of
various ages,from newborn babies to adults.
The Nagoya YMCA,established in 1902,is proud
of it's "One hundred year"history
of running various activities and programs.
In 1948,the "Nagoya YMCA English School"was
established,and in April 2003 we are anxiously
awaiting the opening of new "Nagoya
YMCA Japanese Language Department".
Couse Objectives
The objective of Nagoya YMCA Japanese Language
Department is to develop language skills
which students will use when enrolled in
Japanese colleges and univercities. Emphasis
will be placed on reading,writing,listening,and
speaking Japanese in various contents from
basic to academic.

Students will be required to take periodical
placement tests to measure their progress.
Guidance Counseling
Guidance counseling is available to help
students get acquainted with life in Japan
and with their studies at school.
Extra-curricular activities
Students are encouraged to participate in
various extra-curricular activities,for the
purpose of cultural and inter-cultural exchange.
Residence housing expenses
Housing in Japan runs between 40,000
60,000 yen a month,depending on the size
of the room and location. There is also a
150,000 to 200,000 yen security deposit,which
you will need before being able to rent the
unit. The cost of living in Japan,may be
between 60,000 and 70,000 yen a month,depending
on your expenditures.@
Financial Assistance
The Japanese Government has financial assitance
available for those students who qualify.
The Nagoya YMCA has obtained partial tuition
refuned for qualifying students in accordance
with the Nagoya YMCA Foundation.
