Activity by Morioka YMCA Miyako Volunteer Center
-Sunflowers of "Flower Project" have bloomed
The Morioka YMCA Miyako Volunteer Center and the local high school students have been working on "Flower Project" to make the affected area filled up with colors since March 2013. On the flower beds, we made along the school zones and roads in Kuwagasaki District, Miyako City, large sunflowers have started to bloom one after another.

Activity by Sendai YMCA
-High School students came to do volunteer work
On July 24th and 25th, Sendai YMCA received high school students at Keimei Gakuin High School, Hyogo Prefecture as volunteers. The students worked in Higashi-matsushima City and Yamamoto Town. The students at Keimei Gakuin started to help disaster rehabilitation work in summer of 2011, so this year is the third year. This time, they helped cleaning at seven sets of temporary housings in Hibiki Kogyo Danchi and making seedlings for stwarberry farms in Yamamoto Town.

Activities by YMCA Ishinomaki Support Center
-Activities in cooperation with youth volunteers from the United States
From July 9th to 11th, 13 youth volunteers came from Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA, Connecticut, USA and had rehabilitation work in Ishinomaki City. They made flower beds in Watanoha Daini Temporary Housings by leveling the land and planting over 200 flowers.

-Study sessions in summer for children in Ishinomaki City
On July 22nd to 26th, study sessions in summer for children in Ishinomaki City were held at the Assembly Hall, Ishinomaki Tachimachi Fukkou Shouten-gai (Rehabilitation Shopping District). Total numbers of 300 children who are from four elementary schools participated for five days. The children did homework for summer vacation, enjoyed doing art and craft activities and playing in the park.

Activity by YMCAs in other areas
-Hokkaido YMCA invited the children who evacuated to the summer special programs
Aiming for inviting the children who evacuated to Hokkaido to the summer special programs, Hokkaido YMCA raised funds for "Summer Scholarship Fund". The fund was added to the donations of Summer Festival and Kids' Festival to invite 18 children to summer camps, summer schools, swimming classes and gymnastic classes.
