
Established in London, England in 1844, the YMCA now has over 30 million members in approximately 120 countries and regions. Based on Christian spirituality, the YMCA strives to improve young people's character and to promote harmony of spirit, mind, and body. It is the world's largest organization that serves democratic and peaceful society.
Since its establishment in 1906, the Korean YMCA has been advising foreign students about living in Japan, teaching Japanese language, and providing a place for various kinds of learning and fellowship.
Until now, the Korean YMCA has produced numerous leaders.
With its long tradition and excellent results as its foundation, the YMCA Asian Language Institute was established with an aim to promote international mutual understanding and exchange.
In July 2008, the YMCA Tokyo Japanese Language School has changed its name.
