Character of this YMCA
It is the oldest organization devoted to protecting the existence of the Korean people in Japan as well as the Independence Movement including the February 8 Declaration of independence.

It did its best not only to produce national leaders under the rule of Japanese Imperialism but also to develop the leadership of the Korean young men in Japan.

It is an educational organization which has hosted lecture meeting on the current issues, classes on artistic and cultural topics, Japanese language, Korean language, etc. for about 90 years.

It is an ecumenical organization. Since the founding, it has continued missionary programs such as Bible study, religious lectures, various prayer meetings for the compatriots in Japan. Recently, it has been offering diversified joint programs such as church volunteer leaders training, breakfast prayer meeting, joint divine services, etc.

It is a conventional cultural organization offering various Korean traditional cultural programs such as music, dance, fairy-tale telling, etc.

It renders community service in Kansai as well as in Tokyo where many Koreans live.

It is in close cooperation with 48 YMCAs in Korea and 34 YMCAs in Japan.

It maintains sisterhood relations with such organizations as Soongeui Women's Junior College, Kwangju Public Health Junior College, Inchon Junior College, Hyubsung University, and Paijai University in Korea.

It is registered as a Korean national education organization with the Korean Embassy in Japan.
